interview with @legoianp

Tell us about yourself.
I am a AFOL. I work in a Learning Centre teaching art and crafts to Adults with Learning Disabilities.

Where are you from?

I am from Warrington in sunny England 🌞
Describe your account in 3 words?

Under Niffler control.

What made you start an instagram page?

Originally it was an idea to show of my art and my Lego and to try and connect with people. Turns out more people are interested in Lego than I thought and my art doesn’t get much attention. 😂

How often are you on instagram?

I go on everyday to take a look at peoples work and to catch-up with my many Lego friends around the world.
How long have you been doing your account for?

8 years now it took me a year to work out what you’re supposed to do and to start to connect with people properly.

Where do you get your ideas from?

I really don’t know I just see things in my mind and think I will try that.
It’s much the same with my artwork I have an idea and do it.
The stories are great fun I start something and someone comments and people see things so I add that to the next part of the story. People are wonderful and get involved.

Whats your favourite lego set that you own?

Don’t know🤔 I was very pleased with the Diagon Alley set I really like buildings and I can easily expand and add to that set.

Whos your favourite minifigure?

I have to say Niffler Ned😂 some would say he isn’t a minifigure but those people seem to disappear 😬
I like historical minifigures Roman soldiers, Egyptian and Spartan.
And Dumbledore is always a favourite.
How many minifigures do you own?

Never counted😬. I have two boxes with minifigures all bagged for protection I have another filled with unopened CM’s in and many more in displays and my Harry Potter minifigures I use all the time for photos.

If you could build anything out of lego what would it be?

I would like to build a huge Egyptian landscape always loved the ancient buildings they had sprawling complex’s and temples filled with plants and statues, that would be nice to reproduce but it would have to be big and I simply don’t have the room.

Have you ever been to lego land? (if yes which one)

Yes the one at Windsor that was great to visit.

Whats your favourite lego theme?

Harry Potter that give so many ideas and things to build.

Also the old Adventure theme.

What was your first ever lego set?

I remember a small deep sea diver. Then pirates.

What’s the best thing about the Lego Instagram community?

I have made so many friends on Instagram now. It’s been a fantastic way to connect to others all around the world. I connect with people by physical post now and only in the last week I have had post from Mexico and from Scotland. It doesn’t matter what you do or who you are or how old, people are friendly
And supportive and daily comments and communication with creative people from other countries has been amazing.

Born in Romania, currently living in Indiana US.

Describe your account in 3 words?
First ones that come to mind are probably silly, fun, and creative.
What made you start an Instagram page?
Got into watches a number of years ago and loved seeing everyone’s fun watch pics. I’d also dabbled a bit in photography in the past and wanted to get back into it, so it just seemed like a good way to combine the two. Then I happened to have a little minifig nearby when I was playing around with the first shots, decided to incorporate it, and the rest is history as they say!

How often are you on Instagram?
Probably 3-4 times a day. I try to post maybe 4-5 times a week, but it just depends what else is going on with the family and kids.

Almost two years now! Started in June 2020.

Where do you get your ideas from?
Typically, random ideas just pop into my head throughout the day, maybe from something I saw or heard. Then I jot it down in a little notepad app and try to make a picture out of it later on when I get a chance.

What’s your favourite Lego set that you own?
Tough one! But probably the Lego Technic 8466 4x4 Off-Roader. Love the functional transmission and drivetrain, and the high flexibility of the set in being able to easily add on so much stuff to it.
Who’s your favourite minifigure?
My favorite out of all the ones I have has got to be the original Boba Fett figure from set 7144.

How many minifigures do you own?
Quantity wise, no idea but since I have them all sorted in a separate bin, it’s about 4 pounds of minifigs!

If you could build anything out of Lego what would it be?
Pretty sure this answer would change on a daily basis, but currently I’d love to build a full-scale house that I can live in.

Have you ever been to Lego land? (if yes which one)
Sadly, I have not, but it’s definitely on the bucket list!

What’s your favourite Lego theme?
Technic is definitely number one, followed very closely by any of the space/sci-fi ones.
What was your first ever Lego set?
First I can remember was back in Romania as a kid, one of the old Lego System sets that came in the blue bucket. Maybe set 1880?

Good question! I wasn’t really looking for another hobby. But I have had these Classic Space LEGO sets for a long time and I always enjoyed toy photography. I bought the boards to use as a classic space backdrop years and years ago but only recently had the Impulse to actually build a scene.
